CLASSES

Our classes offer an intimate, exceptional learning experience in an inspiring setting with locally and nationally recognized artists and educators.

The NGAA Center for the Arts provides an all-around curriculum from novice to advanced levels, and it extends maximum accessibility in a broad range of programs that strive to develop the individual's artistic interests and abilities.

Scholarships are open to students who attend school or reside in Gwinnett County.  Priority consideration is given to students who show financial need.

CALLIGRAPHY WRITING CLASS

Ages 16+ | Class Size 4-8

Learn to write in calligraphy - making signs, gift tags, note cards, envelopes, etc.

PHOTOGRAPHY WITH YOUR SMART PHONE

Ages 16+ 

Capture quick photos and up your photo composition with this photography session using your iPhone/Smartphone. Everyone uses their phone to take memories of family, places, and things to remember - now make those photos better!

INTRO TO PHOTOGRAPHY PART 1

Ages 16+

Making your photos better through a hands-on camera class with a professional photographer, explore the elements of photography, instruction through field trip explorations, types of composition, assessment, light effects, subject focus, etc.

This is the second session of the Photography course and students may register for this session after taking Part 1 or by taking a previous photography class with this instructor.

DRAWING CLASS

Ages 16+ | Class Size 4-8

A basic to intermediate class demonstrating to beginners that they CAN draw better than they ever thought, and more experienced artists will enjoy and benefit from the drawing exercises and practice. The visual sketching exercises are aimed at increasing proficiency and range from simple to more complex.

WATER COLOR CLASS

Ages 16+ | Class Size 4-8

Beginning to Intermediate instruction learning brush handling, importance of values, the absolute magic of color blending that happens only with watercolor, and some composition study.  Many fun exercises will emphasize material learned.

ART CULTURE: DRAWING & PAINTING

Class Size 4-10 | Ages 6-12

Discover the world through art! Hands on projects that improve your child’s drawing and painting skills via a wide range of media – clay, watercolor, acrylics, oil, pastel, and mixed media.

Tuesdays: April 14 – May 19, | 5:00 to 6:15 pm

INTRO TO WOODCARVING

Entry Level | Ages 16+

Learn to carve and paint a miniature canvasback decoy.  Students must provide pencil and measuring device. 6 week session.

Wednesdays: April 15 – May 20 | 6:00 to 8:00 pm

Supply costs (paid to teacher $40.00 for knife, wood, sandpaper, paint, brush)

Ages 16+   Class size 3-5

POTTERY WHEEL CLASS

Learn the basics – throwing bowls, mugs, and cylinders; glaze your own creations.

Mondays - (6 weeks) April 13 - May 18

Thursdays - (6 weeks) April 16 – May 21

OPEN STUDIO – POTTERY WHEEL INDEPENDENT STUDY

Throw clay on the Pottery Wheel working on your own guidance and projects. Students must have prior experience in Pottery Wheel class taught at NGAA.

Saturdays (4 weeks) April 18, 25, May 2, & May 16, | 1:00 - 3:00 pm

CLASS & REGISTRATION POLICIES

REGISTRATION

Classes/camps are filled on a first-come, first served basis.

Please note that no student’s space will be held without FULL PAYMENT of class fees.

Credit card payments through PayPal are accepted and are automatically deposited.

CANCELLATIONS

The North Gwinnett Arts Association reserves the right to cancel any class or camp due to insufficient enrollment or inclement weather. Full refunds are issued for cancelled classes. We make every effort to notify students of postponements and cancellations at least 24 hours before the first scheduled class. Dates and times are subject to change as necessary.

The North Gwinnett Arts Association may elect to postpone a class in order to accept additional registrations to meet minimum enrollment requirements.

REFUNDS

To withdraw from a class and receive a refund, the request must be made at least 7 days prior to the first day of your class/camp.

ABSENTEE POLICY

Make-up classes and credit for missed classes are different for each class. Please see instructor for details.

CLASSES & CAMP POLICIES

We do not provide supervision of children before or after classes. We ask that you arrive promptly to all programs and do not leave children unattended. For parents who are late picking-up their child, North Gwinnett Arts Association will charge a $1.00 per minute late fee. The North Gwinnett Arts Association reserves the right to substitute instructors when necessary.

Classes may be canceled due to inclement weather or Gwinnett County Public School weather/holiday closings.
